In 1985 at the International Union of Architects convention (IUA), decision was made to celebrate the World Architecture Day on the first Monday in July. However, some time later, in 1996 IUA on its 20th General Assembly in Barcelona brought resolution to move World Architecture Day to the first Monday in October. On the General Assembly of the United Nations it was decided that the World Habitat Day is celebrated on first Monday in October too, which marks the aim to secure habitat to all population of the world up to year 2000. So in 1996 World Architecture Day was joined to the World Habitat Day. Obviously, that`s why many architects (not only young) think that there are two celebration days, and some forgot about it completely because of this change of date, only to find out about it in lunchtime. Maybe ‘National Festival of Architecture’ in Minsk, which took place in September this year, could take place on World Architecture Day in future. This year`s theme is ‘Architects` energy– versus global crisis.’
